Design and Technology

During DT, we have been exploring a range of different storybooks with moving mechanisms. We sketched the types of mechanisms that we saw and evaluated them. We have created a variety of different moving mechanisms including a paper concertina, a pop-out object, window flaps, rotating wheels and levers.

Active Sunderland

Kay from Active Sunderland visited Year 3! We learned all about how to stay healthy. We knew lots of facts because we are learning about nutrition and the human body in science. We were able to share this knowledge and Kay was very impressed!

Geography

We have worked in groups to find out where our food comes from. We had different items of food on our tables and a world map. We had a note book of post it notes, so that we could record answers to questions. Our red stickers were used to label our maps once we had located countries of origin. We had great fun, exploring, and finding information on food labels and packaging! We learned that our food comes from all over the world.

Autumn Crafts

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our parents and carers who came to our Autumn craft afternoon. The children had a fantastic time creating wreaths, collages and leaf rubbings!

Science

In Science, we have been learning about rocks and soils. We have classified rocks and soils into groups, according to their physical properties. We have learned about permeability, durability and density and have carried out investigations to support our understanding. Today we have observed soils to determine their permeability. We have measured the durability of each soil sample and recorded the results in a chart.
